Developer turned product builder

Hello, I am Tanay.

I began as a developer in 2019, building React components, Node.js backends and the SQL database structures behind them. Over time, I became less interested in how we built things and more interested in why. Today I work between the people who use software and the people who build it, translating what one group needs into what the other can deliver. Increasingly, that work runs on AI.

Why tan.ai?

For 28 years, people have mispronounced my name as "Tan AI." When it became a job description, I decided to treat it as career advice.

FULL DETAILS IN THE CV

Four notes I write on every project

  1. 1

What we are building, and what is out of scope for now.

  2. 2

How we will know it is complete.

  3. 3

    The steps, in order.

  4. 4

    Why we chose this approach.

From my Medium post on documentation. Ten minutes of preparation on every project.

Off the clock

I cook Thai curries, Italian pasta and, on a good day, a proper biryani. I always read the whole recipe before I start, much as I gather requirements before building. I also trek, mostly for the views, and I enjoy stand-up comedy.
