developer era → product builder era

hiii, i'm Tanay.

i started as a developer in 2019, building React components, Node.js backends and the SQL database structures behind them. over time i cared less about how we built things and more about why. character development. today i sit between the people who use software and the people who build it, translating what one needs into what the other can ship. and yeah, more and more of it runs on AI.

Why tan.ai?

for 28 years people have been saying my name as "Tan AI." then it became a job description, so i took it as career advice. manifesting, basically.

Four notes I write on every project

1

what we're making, and what we're not making today. boundaries.
2

how we'll know it's done. no vibes-based finish lines.
3

the steps, in order. no side quests.
4

why we chose this. future us will ask.

from my Medium post on documentation. ten minutes of prep, every time. non-negotiable.

Off the clock

i cook: Thai curries, Italian pasta, and a proper biryani on a good day. not me reading the whole recipe before i touch a pan. some call that overthinking, i call it requirements gathering. i also trek, mostly for the views and the excuse to have no signal (touching grass, professionally). and i love stand-up comedy, which is basically user testing for jokes.
