  2. the ask: revamp the supplier portal. a reasonable ask, on paper. it's always on paper.

    The ask

"Can we rebuild the supplier portal this quarter?"

  3. before writing a single story, i pulled the usage numbers from production.

adoption first, opinions second. hot takes later.

  4. Guess the number

    your guess: 50%

guess before you look. no peeking.

  5. 20%, and honestly it made sense. most suppliers are small makers in tier-3 towns who run on phone, email and WhatsApp. that's where their trust lives. respect.

  6. Your turn

you have one quarter. what do you build?

pick one before you scroll. commit to the bit.

  7. A. Rebuild the supplier portal
    B. Fix product management my pick
    C. a bit of both (the people-pleaser pick)

we fixed product management instead. it feeds the reseller portal, the customer portal and BrandHub (opens in a new tab)'s own admin, so one fix landed in three places. we love to see it.

    Principle 01

    build where people already are

adoption is the cheapest research you'll ever get.

  8. second ask, same quarter: show live stock on every order line. they were on a roll.

    Ask #2

"Show stock on the order lines."

  9. showing stock early would have put customers off ordering those lines. so we shipped the warehouse system first, and stock after. delayed gratification.

    Principle 02

fix the data before you show it

a wrong number on screen is worse than no number.

what i'd do next (zero copium)

put adoption numbers on the roadmap itself, so this argument happens before the request, not after. receipts first, drama never.
